Sestino

The traditional ‘Sestino’ is a coarse tile used for paving in which the important feature required for effective performance is the roughness of the surface, such as in steep pavements. These small porphyry slabs have a natural upper and lower quarry face and split edges made using Steinex hydraulic press machines.
The ‘rustic’ Sestino is a cladding coarse tile consisting in thin porphyry slabs of variable height with natural upper and lower quarry face. The visible split edge (exposed face) and the two split side edges are obtained using hydraulic press machines, and are laid on their edges in parallel rows. They are mainly used for low walls and facades.
